Twenty two people reportedly drowned in a dam in Burkina Faso after a
bus they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into the
dam in southwest region of the country.
A total of “22 people were drowned”, in Thursday’s accident “when a
minibus fell into a dam in Kiebalogo, on national route 27,” the
government said in a statement, as reported by news24.
Eight other people were injured in the accident.
The statement went on to say that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Kibalogo is located 45 kilometres from Burkina Faso’s second city of Bobo Dioulasso.
Road accidents are frequent occurrences in Burkina Faso with the poor state of roads and vehicles often to blame.
