'Ghana's influence on present day "Naija Sound" cannot be over emphasized' - The truthfulness of his claim

Nigerians hardly forgave their very own Mr. Eazi after critics believed his statement undermined Nigerian Music. On Wednesday, Oluwatobin Oluwole Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi tweeted: “Ghana's influence on present day "Naija Sound" cannot be over emphasized!!!”.

The question is: Was he wrong after all?

Undeniably, Ghana and Nigeria have  interest in the same type of music. Ghanaians enjoy Nigerian music as if it emanated from them, similarly, Nigerians enjoy Ghana music with passion. One thing for sure, is that the common love for music influences both sides. Hence, there is no fault in saying Ghana has influenced present day Nigerian music.

Music influences all
Culture has been shared through music. It can be clearly recalled that the 'Azonto' dance which originated from Ghana caught up with Nigerians as well. The vibe from the 'Azonto' tunes kept knuckles in the air irrespective of their nationality. Ghanaian musicians like Tic Tac and VIP(now VVIP) have also been prominent in Nigeria back in the day.
We also cannot ignore the fact that some Ghanaian music like Obour's 'Shyne your eye' and Guru's 'Baba God' clearly have Nigerian traits. Just as Hip-hop from the United States has influenced genres in other countries, there is a very high tendency for music from one country to influence another.

Ghana's influence on one of Nigeria's greatest, Fela Kuti
Fela Kuti undoubtedly, has influence Nigerian music in a unique way. Many see him as the godfather of Afrobeat. Surprisingly, this great music icon traveled to Ghana in 1967 to think up a new musical direction leading to the birth of Afrobeat.

So why is Mr. Eazi being attacked? Could it be because he simply did not mention that Nigeria also has an influence on Ghanaian music?
