Habits to avoid after a meal #HealthIsWealth

Often, one may feel sleepy after a full meal. Some may like to take a puff or a cup of tea after eating. However, these habits and more have negative effects on digestive health.

Here are some activities you should avoid doing immediately after a meal:

Sleeping:
Lying down just after eating causes indigestion and gastric reflux. Digestion is slowed down or may not occur at all.

Smoking:
It is said that smoking after a meal is equivalent to smoking 10 cigarettes. No matter how true or false this is, smoking is harmful to your body and you should not smoke anyhow, especially mixing its toxins with food nutrients.

Bathing:
Bathing after a meal delays digestion. The blood needs to flow to the stomach to aid digestion. Taking a shower will make blood flow to other parts of the body during a shower instead of helping with digestion.

Eating Fruits:
Fruits should be eaten first before meals as they are easy to digest. It should be an hour before a meal or two hours after a meal. Different foods digest at different speeds.  Fruits will not be digested properly if you eat them directly after a meal.

Drinking Tea:
Tea leaves are acidic and will affect the digestion process. If you consume protein in the meal, the acid from the tea will harden the protein content, making it difficult to digest. Drinking tea immediately after a meal will also interfere with iron absorption by the body. Avoid tea one hour before and after meals.
