Nearly one year after he was jailed for killing his girlfriend, Oscar Pistorius has been released under house arrest.
The South African Olympic and Paralympic athlete is expected to spend the rest of a five-year prison sentence at his uncle's home in Pretoria.
State prosecutors are appealing against the decision, saying Pistorius should have been convicted of murder instead.
He was released on Monday evening and driven under cover of darkness to his uncle's house 20 minutes away. The premature departure was allegedly designed presumably to avoid media attention.
He will have no access to firearms, drugs and alcohol whilst under house arrest.
Oscar Pistorius, 28 was convicted of culpable homicide of his 29-year-old girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, at trial in October last year.
