A recent survey by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has revealed that Cape Coast, in the Central Region, tops child prostitution cases in Ghana.
The results of the survey comes three months after the Regional Minister, Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, had stated that child prostitution was on the rise in the metropolis.
According to him, UNICEF has captured the problem in its report and was planning to collaborate with the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) to mitigate the situation.
Through the UNICEF/PPAG collaboration, child prostitutes in the metropolis would be mobilized and given some vocational training to help them generate income, since poverty could be the main cause of the act.
