The principal medical research center in Ghana, the Noguchi Center for Medical Research has confirmed reports of a bird flu {H5N1}outbreak in the capital Accra.
Some birds have tested to the avian flu which could develop into bird-to-human transmission if it is not managed properly.
Ghana has just recovered from a cholera outbreak and escaped the deadly Ebola virus which affected some countries in West Africa.
The free range system of rearing domestic birds, which is prevalent in the country may escalate the situation should the flu spread.
