Kenyans use social media to help inform about crime

Kenya is very strong on social media, particularly because of the very strong young population who will be seen quite often on phone.

With insecurity being one of the single biggest concerns in the country, the government has been working towards setting up infrastructure to combat crime. But infrastructure is just one part of solving it.
Social Media platforms particularly Facebook are proving a useful resource.

An initiative has been running in Kenya, for police and citizens to keep lines of communications open, and it’s now using Facebook to do so.

Crime Alert Kenya is a Facebook page that allows for the exchange of useful information about the on goings in various neighborhoods.
